Mass demonstrations were held on the International Workers' Day in the largest city square although public transportation was suspended in the early morning hours. The parliament had passed the controversial Demonstration Law that prohibits demonstrations in city squares four years ago, and for the first time, the police did not intervene the celebrations this year.
